Calvert's First Ever Turkey Tango!

Today we participated in Calvert's first Turkey Tango.  The 8th Graders were our buddies.  They helped us make a turkey craft using our hand prints.  Then we all played turkey kickball, which was so much fun.  The 8th Graders ate lunch with us and even stayed for recess.  We had so much fun!!

Franklin the Turkey made an appearance and had us do the turkey tango.
He also told us many funny Thanksgiving Day jokes!

We did it again...

We filled our stone jar to the top!!!  We celebrated with another slumber party and watched Knuffle Bunny, while enjoying delicious sugar cookies (thank you Mrs. Collins!).

I wonder how long it will take us to fill the jar again???

**Mystery Reader**

We loved having Mrs. Johnston read to us as one of our Mystery Readers.  She left a book for us to finish reading as a class, Heidi Hecklebeck Has a Secret.  We can't wait to find out what happens at the end.  Thank you, Mrs. Johnston!!

Happy Thursday!

It was great seeing you all last Friday at our parent-teacher conference.  Your daughters are doing so well.  I'm really proud of our successes so far this school year!  Everyone has worked so hard this week getting ready for our FIRST spelling test...I know we're going to do well tomorrow!!

This week we had Dovie Thomason, a story teller and author, come to Calvert to tell stories about her native culture.  We also had a visit from Mrs. Nichols for a character lesson and a mystery reader on Monday (pictures will be posted soon).

A Look Ahead:

Next week’s spelling words are going to be: it, in, is, his, him, sit, with, will, then, & went.

We will be starting our first composition next week. The title will be The Sun

On Monday, we will meet up again with our 10th Age Buddies for a chance to write letters of appreciation to Calvert staff members, thanking them for all they do for us.

Friday, November 22nd, is a Purple Friday Dress Down Day.  We will also participate in a "Calvert Buddy Day" with the Middle School on this day.

Monday, November 25th we are going to see the 10th Age play!

Tuesday, November 26th school closes at 12:30pm.  **** Because we are not celebrating Grandparent’s Day, we are going to make our own fun that day.  The students will rotate to different Thanksgiving themed stations.  We will finish the day by making a Thanksgiving Trail Mix and watching a movie in the auditorium.

Upcoming Events

Toy Drive Next week:

We will be hosting a toy drive next week, November 18-22. We will be collecting new and gently used toys to deliver to Hampden Family Center, Paul’s Place, and the Mayor’s Office. The toys may be wrapped or unwrapped. If your child brings a wrapped toy, please indicate on a tag whether it is for a boy or girl, and what age range. We look forward to another successful toy drive this holiday season!
