News and Notes
REMINDERS for the week of April 28th:
*We will NOT have spelling words, homework or a test this week, due to the end-of-the-year Gates testing we will be taking on Thursday and Friday mornings. Please make sure your daughters have a restful night's sleep and a healthy breakfast before coming to school on Thursday and Friday. Testing begins promptly at 8:30.
*The girls need socks or shoes as part of their costumes for the play. Please send in something for them to wear on their feet while on stage.
*The Book Fair is on campus this week. We will preview the books tomorrow, Tuesday, and create a "Wish List" that will come home. If you would like to purchase books, please send in cash or a check payable to Calvert (include 6% tax). We will purchase books on Thursday.

*Mon, 5/5 Dress Down Day for all ….Head Master for the day, Alex Nabit* Wed. May 7 7th Age Play 8:45am

Happy Friday!
We had a great dress down day today...thank you, Head Master Berman :)
A Look Ahead:
*Tuesday, April 22nd COSTUMES are due! Please
continue to practice “running” lines with your daughter. Also please help each of
them with the “acting” pieceJ We are
NO LONGER using scripts on stage.
*Next Wednesday, April 23rd we are off to the
Science Center. The girls will need to be in CALVERT UNIFORM and bring a
“BAG” lunch and drink. *Chaperons, the bus will leave Calvert at 9:15. Feel free to ride with us or meet us at the Science Center at 9:45. The IMAX film starts at 10:00.
*No composition homework sheet for next week. We are writing
about our lovely mothers.

**Mystery Reader**
Our mystery reader today was very mysterious!! It took all of us a few seconds to realize who was hiding under the blonde wig! Thank you, Mrs. Collins. It was a fun visit!

Fables
The focus of our 7th Age play is Aesop's fables. We have read many different fables in homeroom class, always noticing similarities: the characters are usually animals, one animal is sometimes mean and the other is nice or helpful, and a lesson or moral is learned at the end. As a class we decided to write our own fables. With our friendship buddy of the week we brainstormed about our characters and setting. We decided the sequence of the fable and what the lesson would be at the end. Then we created puppets of the characters, scenery, and props. Finally we acted it out for our friends to see.
