This week Mr. Yu visited us as our mystery reader. During his visit, Mr. Yu taught us about the spring festivals that take place in China. His slideshow included photos of a panda bear, a map of China (which looks like a rooster!), dumplings (yum!), fireworks, and lanterns. He also showed us how people decorate their houses for the spring festivals. The colors red and gold are very popular in China. Mr. Yu taught us how Chinese characters are written and read top to bottom and right to left, which is very different from the way we learn to read and write.
